A jaw dropping piece from a French heritage brand with impeccable provenance, Vionnet. If you are unfamiliar with Madame Vionnet, we will spare you the history lesson but we will entice you to do your own homework. After all, she is credited with inventing the bias cut! This ethereal gown integrates elements synonymous with the groundbreaking designs of Madame Vionnet such as the romantic braided weave, delicate asymmetry, diaphanous plisse, and a floor-sweeping statuesque figure. This dreamy gown is of Goga Ashekenazi's tenure at Vionnet dating to the mid-to-late 2010's. The Grecian column silhouette of bias silk is a clear nod to Vionnet's 1930's interpretation of 2500AD. Who knew visions of antiquity and the 1930's could feel so fresh and modern?
This gown is composed of layers of luxurious semi-sheer bias-cut silk crepe in two delicate shades. The gown alternates between a semi-sheer ballet slipper pinky nude and a semi-sheer warm shade of cream. The outermost layer is of the pink-nude silk with the cream silk as the second and innermost layer underneath both the bodice and dress skirt. The punctuating details such as the waistband, attached capelet, and woven side detail are composed of the pink nude silk. The plunging halter neckline is elegantly complemented by an open back. The industrial matte aged metal closure at the nape of the neck propels this nostalgic gown to the 21st century. Hidden zip and hook closure down the back of the hips.
