A star-making gown by the Sultan of Sequins, Bob Mackie. This stunning showstopper is of the Bob Mackie Ray Aghayan label placing this piece in the early to mid 1970's. Oh, if only we had documentation of this gorgeous gown in action! All the more reason for you to acquire it and make your own Cher-worthy memories in it.
The faux-wrap silhouette hugs the waist and punctuates the bodice with a trail of clear rhinestoned backed against black trim matching the straps of the same design. The straps cross at the back giving them a secure tension to hold them (and the girls) taught. The wrap-style skirt petals into a soft slit at the center front. The gown's exterior shell is a golden shade of yellow jersey that is fully adorned with rows of flat gold sequins. The bodice is supported by a corsetlette lining with boning down to the waist. The skirt of the gown is lined in a slinky black jersey. Zipper and hook closure at the center back. The construction indicates it probably was worn for performance.
The lining has hand written notations. Truly appears to be the kind of custom creation made for stage of television. Regardless of its provenance, this is a highly collectible era of Mackie that rarely comes to market. Statuesque, sexy, and glamourous.
