This Pierre Cardin dress is a piece of fashion history—a true museum-worthy mod dress from one of the most iconic designers of the Space Age era. Estimated to be circa 1966. This is quintessential Pierre Cardin. In 1966 the French Couturier's decade-defining futuristic fashion was was sweeping the scene with neat long-line silhouette's that grazed the knee or surpassed to the ankle. Moments before the micro-mini craze shook the world. This Cardin is an important milestone of the modernist movement. Wearable fashion, art, and cultural history!
The simple shift silhouette is of a sleek cotton twill in pastel lime green with aqua blue and white color-blocked geometric appliqué.  This contrasting circle cut-out was a favored and well documented design motif in use throughout his 1966 creations along with the iconic bullseye or target design. A fantastic and somewhat understated piece as far as the realm of wearable op-art goes.  A rare find for vintage fashion collectors.  Fully lined in matching pastel green silk. Zipper closure up the center back with a hook at the nape of the neck. The right side is fit with a discreet overlapping side slit for mobility in the straight silhouette. The side slit measures 20" inches.
Iterations of this design are well documented throughout the year 1966, and we estimate it to be around that 1965-1967 era. The Pierre Cardin label places it at this time as well as the Bullock's Wilshire label.
Overall great condition. Gentle signs of age such as very, very faint discoloration at the neckline and under the arms.
