A remarkably rare early 1960's Pierre Balmain Haute Couture day dress. A quintessential 1960's French It-Girl staple. Classic silhouette consisting of a mod short sleeve crew neck bodice with a drop waist, knife pleat skirt. The skirt hits at the knee. The hemline and Haute Couture number hint to early 1960's. The dress is beautifully tailored in a navy blue wool gabardine with a rich texture and fully lined in a luxurious matching blue silk. French couture finish.
The label reads 'Pierre Balmain Paris' with couture registration tape affixed to the back with hand-penned numbering (154808).
Very good condition commensurate with age. A few small thread pulls throughout and one small moth hole in skirt to note.
