A rare Patrick Kelly offering dating to the late 1980's. The Mississippi born designer and self-proclaimed Francophile is wildly recognized as one of the most underrated designers of the '80s. Kelly's pieces are incredibly collectible. Kelly is typically remembered for his playful yet sexy designs Made in France and constructed from a light beige linen with a white contrasting zigzag top-stitch detail. This intriguing yet minimal piece offers an elegant juxtaposition between a sophisticated silhouette and a slightly rustic textile. Nearly rustic, but certainly not rough— this linen is sleek and finely finished.
Fully lined in a cream satin acetate and bemberg blend. This swing coat has no additional closures. The shoulders are finished with rounded shoulder pads. Slit pockets at either side lined in the same fabric as the exterior. The hem is longer in the back and tapers at the front.
Labelled a FR size 3. Fits like a modern US Large. Could be worn oversized as well.
Good condition. This piece has been professionally dry cleaned. There is an area at the lower left side of the back with faint spotted yellowing. We've included photos of the area as whole and close ups of the faded yellow. It is quite faint and hard to detect in person or in photos.
