A fabulously early eighties piece by one of Princess Diana's favorite designers, Gina Fratini. The English designer also designed for Princess Anne, and even designed Elizabeth Taylor's wedding gown for her 2nd wedding to Richard Burton! Fratini's signature style became known for the elements of fantasy woven into the designs, wonderfully fitting for British royalty and Hollywood royalty.
This gown features an empire waist that gathers into a halter neck with eye-catching romantic flourishings such as the large silk flower bouquet pendant and the draped skirt swag. The light-catching silk taffeta is a vibrant shade of scarlet red with an orange hue. The empire waist bodice ties as a halter to create the perfect plush bow at the back of the neck. The fantastical skirt features layers of drapes and swags that highlight the intricately pleated hems. Fully lined, zipper in back.
Good vintage condition with signs of wear. The pleated skirt hem has some discoloration and there is faint fading. Price reflects these issues.
Labelled a US 10 and a UK 12.
