An absolutely exquisite offering from the Spring 1984 collection of James Galanos. This intricate and luxurious evening ensemble is a feast for the eyes. The jacket is of a delicate silk chiffon in a cream champagne with soft blush highlights and a subtle gold jacquard.
The silk jacquard of the jacket is arranged in meticulous diagonal hand-pleated pleats down the arms and in a fishbone pattern down the front. Vertical rows of beadwork punctuate the design at the peaks of the chevron flat pleats. The beautiful beadwork continues at the collar, cuffs, hem, and down the center obscuring the zipper closure. Iridescent, clear, and gold colored beads. The jacket is fully lined in champagne silk chiffon. Light shoulder pads. Expertly constructed.
The champagne silk chiffon skirt is covered in heavy, all-over beading. Softly iridescent glass bugle beads decorate the majority of the skirt with golden flower beads patterned throughout. The skirt is lined in a layer of the romantic silk jacquard seen in the jacket with a petersham waist band. Classic tapered knee-length skirt with a side zip and hook closure.
Overall very good vintage condition. Gentle fraying to the delicate silk jacquard sleeves. The skirt is in excellent condition and the beadwork is in tact throughout both the skirt and jacket.
Best fits a US 6 or 8, about a Small or Medium.
