Wispy little black dress from Fendi's Spring 2010 Ready to Wear collection. Karl Lagerfeld took inspiration from Parisian boudoir stylings for this collection, but rather than lean into smoldering cliches, he elevated the design to incorporate undone elements such as rough hems and frayed lace. The runway show featured similar iterations of this dress utilizing the same net lace and undone hems styled with point d'esprit lace on top.
The sleeveless silhouette appears to be inspired by flapper dress silhouettes of the 1920's with the drop waist, wrapped layered mid-section, scooped neckline, plunged back, and knee-grazing hem. The black open-knit lace is semi-sheer. The bodice has been elegantly constructed from five delicate layers of intricate lace and the skirt consists of two individual tiers composed of two layers of lace each. Despite the airy feel of the lace, it has a strong composition. Perfect layering dress for any season. Unlimited styling potential. Unlined. Zipper closure down the back. Appears unworn.
The open-knit lace is composed of a polyamide nylon.
