A classic pair of Chanel earrings that transcend decades and seasonal trends dating to the era of 1971-1981. The finishing touch to take any Chanel look from fresh off the rack to lived-in luxury. The large clip-on earrings feature a faux pearl with a reflective and textured look to emulate a raw pearl. A gold plated twisted rope motif surrounds the faux pearl with the interlocking 'CC' monogram at the bottom.
The back is gold-plated with the cartouche plaque which reads 'CHANEL' bracketed by copyright and registration marks followed by the CC monogram below, and 'MADE IN FRANCE' along the bottom. After Coco Chanel's death in 1971, Alain Wertheimer introduced the copyright and registration marks. By 1982, a dated stamp was added to the costume jewelry. This places these between 1971-1981. The earlier gold-plated Chanel costume jewelry tends to have the added luxury of a healthier weight about them. There is a faint marking reading "2278" in the indentation at the back of the earring as well.
Very good condition. Light surface scratches to the faux pearl commensurate with age and light wear. Box included.
