An incredible and collectible 1940's crepe rayon dress with a head-turning conversational graphic print. The tomato red crepe rayon is boldly complemented by the graphic print's palette of black, sage green, and cream. The print depicts a mesmerizing abstract motif of horse heads. The dress is coveted enough for the print itself, but the silhouette is wonderfully flattering and classically 1940's. The shawl collar neckline of the bodice gathers into a V followed by a row of ornamental self-fabric covered buttons. The sleeves are 3/4 length. One decorative envelope pocket at the left hip. The dress skirt hem hits above the ankle, about mid-calf. Side zip closure. Unlined. Perfect little eye-catching afternoon to evening dress.
The dress is in good condition overall with imperfections to note. There are faint water stains throughout the dress. We have included close up photos of these areas. It is hard to immediately recognize this due to the print. Two points have been professionally mended and we have included photos of these areas (1st at back of left shoulder, 2nd near left armpit). Two pinholes at the back of the neck to right, just below the collar.
