This is a true knockout 1940's number. Soft rayon jersey in a speckled heather charcoal with flecks of deep grey and a lighter blue-tinged grey. The construction and attention to detail on this piece is both head-turning and silver screen-worthy. The slashed cap sleeves and the high collar with a subtle silhouette of a mandarin collar give this piece an air of Eastern influence. Round faceted crystals set in chrome adorn the dress in a twinkling spray across the left side of the chest and in three neat diagonal rows up the waist panel. The crystal rhinestones trail along the hem of the draped swag that cascades down from the gathered waist. For a final element of drama, we have a single caped sleeve falling from the back of the right arm. Ultra flattering tailoring with a nipped in waist and dress skirt that falls straight to the floor. A sophisticated piece for anyone who dreams of the Old Hollywood glamour of Adrian and Edith Head. This dress is unlined. Zip closure down the side and additional half zip at the center back. Unlabelled.
Great condition commensurate with age. Teeny abrasions near the lower half of the back of the dress. One small hole in the long cape sleeve. Priced as is.
Fits like a modern US Small or Medium. This would probably best fit a modern US 6 or 8.
There is a decent amount of give to the fabric at the bust and the hips as well as the draping to account for a dew extra inches. The waist panel is a different cut with a more gentle stretch and less size flexibility.
