A romantic and bohemian hand-sewn antique dress dating to the divinely deco 1920's. This is a wonderful option for any Art Deco era fashion lover who is looking to covet a 1920's piece with the flexibility of day to evening wear. The dress is constructed from a lightweight yet strong cotton gauze in a soft chocolate brown. These cotton beaded dresses tend to lend a desirable level of resilience to the elements. The relaxed tunic silhouette features a faint boat neckline and airy short sleeves. The elaborate beaded Deco motif guides the eye down the breezy stature of the gorgeous garment. The beaded motif is created with contrasting white seed beads. The entire dress including the beadwork has all been done by hand, and the organic patterns have a heart-warming and human quality to the likely home-made piece. Wearable art! This would be a wonderful selection for a garden wedding guest! Perfect for balmy summer and fall evenings, too. There is no closure, pull-on style tunic dress.
The dress is unlined and is composed of a single layer of semi-sheer cotton gauze. We have photographed the dress with a black slip underneath that is not included. We would encourage you to style this to your hearts desires, but if you are stumped, we would recommend a brown or skin-toned slip.
Overall very good condition. There a minor pinholes and faint surface abrasions commensurate with 100+ year age. It appears the dress was hemmed at one point as about 8 inches from the hem there is a horizontal row wrapping around the piece with signs of such (only noticeable upon close inspection).
There are two bands of elastic encased in self-fabric sewn inside below the waist to be cinched for a blouson silhouette if desired.
This would best fit a modern US 8 to 12.
