An exquisite 1910's French Couture evening gown in a regal shade of midnight blue. This intricate piece is composed of several layers of delicate silk chiffon including an inner lining of beige-nude silk chiffon. The semi-sheer dress features a long, luxurious panel of blue velvet at the skirt hem for an anchoring textural depth. The velvet is matched with the addition of a velvet tie-waist belt. Elegant full-length bishop sleeves finished with gold lame soutache embroidery at the cuffs. Diaphanous smocking at the bodice below the modest notched neckline. The neckline is decorated with swirling lame chain stitching that carries to the shoulders and back yolk to match the cuffs. The hem of the blue chiffon outer dress is embellished with a gold and blue hand-woven trim. The innermost beige-nude chiffon is complete with a sewn in chain to ensure perfect drape. Buttons along the center.
Overall very good vintage condition commensurate with the 110 year age. There is some light discoloration throughout the interior and the lining has slightly shattered with age.
