This gorgeous late 1940's dress comes from the label of legendary couturier Mainbocher. This bombshell of a dress is composed of a gorgeous black satin brocade with red polka dots. The classic fit and flare silhouette consists of a wrap-style bodice, short sleeves, a cinched waist, and a flared skirt with asymmetrical swag draping at the left side for added drama and volume. The wrap-style bodice is decorated with two bows that trail the wrap. One is at the center of the chest and the second is at the lower left side of the bodice.
Expertly constructed by one of the mid century masters for an exaggerated, fit and flair silhouette. The skirt construction is masterful and hard to describe. Please look at the 6th photo and you'll see what I mean. There is an interior petersham belt at the waist as well as a simple matching exterior waist melt that hooks closed. The dress has a zipper closure at the side with snaps to secure the side swag as well. There's a single hook closure at the overlapping wrap at the chest.
This feminine dress is incredibly flattering and a collector's item as well! Perfect for a Viva Las Vegas glamour girl. Pinup measurements! Va va voom!
