The holy grail for a bohemian chic bride, this Thea Porter Couture gown is the ultimate piece for the '70s muse. Thea Porter creations such as this divine example are easily identifiable by her use of luxurious textiles, embroidery, and layered construction. Her loose, draped shapes and fabrics have since become forever entangled with the idea of rock-star self-indulgence. Her list of star-studded clients includes movie stars and rockstars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Sharon Tate, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles. Both Faye Dunaway and Kate Moss wore Thea Porter when they walked down the aisle!
This dress is truly couture with thought put into each detail. The handkerchief hemline and billowing balloon sleeves are classic Thea Porter. The bodice is composed of a cream and gold Damascus silk with a delicate motif that hints at the designer's worldly upbringing and inspirations. The jacquard bodice is embellished with intricate gilded hand embroidery and silver micro sequins down the front and at the tops of the shoulders. The billowing balloon sleeves are a delicate sheer silk with flower embroidery towards the bracelet cuffs. The skirt falls from just below the true waist for an elegant silhouette. The skirt consists of three layers of cream silk. The outer layer is a silk chiffon with floral embroidery down the front, back, sides, and handkerchief hem, the second layer is a silk georgette, and the third layer is a glossy silk organza. The gown has a hidden zip and hook closure up the back and elasticized sleeve cuffs.
Overall excellent condition with teeny unremarkable imperfections due to the age of this spectacular piece.
