From the legendary Comme des Garcons Spring 1996 runway show where Rei Kawakubo proclaimed "red is the new black" - an extraordinary two-piece ensemble that captures the collection's kaleidoscopic celebration of color and life. This museum-quality runway set represents one of fashion's most influential moments, when Kawakubo challenged the dominance of black in avant-garde fashion with explosive bursts of chromatic innovation. The pink knit sweater vest features geometric patterns in hot pink, maroon, and grey, while the semi-sheer harem pants showcase rectangular prints in hot pink, indigo, purple, red, charcoal, and black. Both pieces were featured on the actual runway, making this an incredibly rare find for CDG collectors and fashion historians who understand the cultural significance of this groundbreaking collection.
