Christian Dior Boutique S/S 1994 Gianfranco Ferre Chocolate Brown Striped Macrame Halter Neck Gown

Christian Dior by Gianfranco Ferre Spring/Summer 1994 Pret a Porter gown as seen on the S/S 1994 runway. This striking multi-textured gown draws upon references of classic Dior with the 1950's fit and flare silhouette and 1970's Bohan-era stripes while still landing on an inventive, fresh design. Quintessential Ferre for Dior. The Christian Dior Boutique tag is numbered which usually denotes a custom order or an order by an established client during this time period.

The bodice of the gown is composed of a chocolate brown macrame halter top lined in matching silk with a plunging neckline and an open back. The halter buttons closed at the nape of the neck. The full skirt is composed of four layers.

The outer skirt is a striped brown, cream, and burgundy sheer silk. The second layer is a sheer black silk with a cream macrame piping trim at the hem. The third is layer is a black net tulle petticoat with about 6" or cream appliquéd trim at the hem. The final interior petticoat is a classic, voluminous sheer black petticoat that hugs the hip and flares below the rear.
