This 1950's French Haute Couture ensemble transports you to a summer's day filled with Tom Collins' and finger sandwiches. This exquisite Jean Patou is undeniably chic. The sophisticated late 1950's silhouette is beautifully complemented by the youthful gingham print. The perfectly classic convertible outfit for a stroll around the Tuileries Gardens or an Tuscan Italian winery tour. One cannot understate the importance of Jean Patou and his house on the past century of fashion since their Early 20th Century beginnings. The house is also famed for it's history of illustrious designers. This ensemble could have been under Marc Bohan (1953–1957), Mad Carpentier (1958-1960) or early Karl Lagerfeld (1960–1963).
Composed of a luxurious silk satin that feels like a messaline satin silk. The jacket features a scooped neckline, rolled collar, and 1/3 sleeves creating lines that narrow the waist. The waist is belted with a same-fabric bow belt. The jacket hem hits at the high hip. The dress is a sweet and classic relaxed fit-and-flare with a pleated dress skirt and an apron-style bodice. Finished with a classic couture corstlette with encased boning
Double zip layered closure at the back of the dress. Outer blouse-jacket fixed with snaps and buttons. The waist belt snaps closed.
Great vintage condition, wear commensurate with age. Light signs of aging on internal corsetlette within dress (pictured). Minor fading on shoulders.
