A spectacular late 1950's dress coat by the "Master Tailor of 7th Ave", Ben Zuckerman. The Romanian-born designer lived the American dream from sweeping the floors of a dress factory to dressing a sitting First Lady—Jackie O, no less. The Parisian influence on his designs is unmistakable, and certainly apparent in this offering. The coat is composed of a buttercream silk jacquard brocade with a gorgeous reflective glow. The jacquard depicts a romantic damask leafy motif of blooming florals. The lustrous silk has a champagne sheen. The collar is a plush cream mink outlining the plunged neckline. The fullness of the fur-covered bodice is complemented by a nipped-in, belted waist and A-line skirt. The wide waist belt has a self-fabric square buckle with an adjustable closure. The sleeves are 3/4 length. The coat closes down the center with self-fabric covered buttons. Pockets at the side hips. Fully lined in cream satin. This would be a fabulous Holiday cocktail party dress as a stand-alone piece or layered over another ensemble.
Great condition. Unworn, 65-70 year old dead stock with the original Neiman Marcus tags. The mink is in very good condition with light shedding.
