Sophisticated Geoffrey Beene black jersey column evening gown. This timeless black tie gown features a high halter neckline, and elegant keyhole detail at the back. This gown truly encapsulates the understated glamour of the American designers in the NYC scene of the late 1970's and early 1980's.
The gown is composed of three subtly differing jerseys. Please refer to the 6th photo for a better understanding of the textures. The bodice portion of the gown is composed of a soft wool-based matte jersey with seamwork creating a V silhouette that meets the drop waistline. At either side of that V, and stretching up the back, is a satin finished jersey with a slight sheen. Below the empire waist and down the skirt, the gown is composed of a rayon jersey.
The angular panels that meet at the waist create the illusion of a nipped and elongated waist silhouette. The column silhouette has added depth with the addition of the hidden pleat down the front center of the gown. Invisible zipper along the center back and a hook and eye closure at the top of the keyhole.
Excellent overall condition with a small imperfection to note. There are two teeny and unnoticeable holes at the bottom back hem of the dress.
Labelled a US 8. Would fit a modern US 6 or 8.
