Magnificent Lord & Taylor early 1910's Black Silk Velvet Opera Coat with Tie Neck and Cocoon Collar. The classic and enduring '10s opera coat is an elegant heirloom piece that will transform your vintage wardrobe to true collector status. This silk velvet coat in particular stands out with its cocoon collar ribbed with cartridge pleats that are hand-stitched rows at the collar, shoulders, and sleeves. The collar has a dramatic tie neck detail that falls at the chest.The single button closure at the waist ties together the effortless draping that slinks down the silhouette. Billowing sleeves drop from the shoulder to the cocooned cuffs just above the wrist into a gentle gathering. The exterior of the coat is in excellent condition with only light wear commensurate with age. Light shattering to the lining at the inner arms and shoulders as typical with these antique pieces. There is a layer of cream woven felt wool insulation between the shattering cream silk lining and the black silk velvet exterior. Sold with as is lining and if purchased for inspiration- no problem.  If purchased to wear, this piece could be relined.
