Show-stopping 2000’s Irene ball gown in an ultraviolet shade of purple satin. The fabric has a luminous, almost liquid sheen that gives the gown a nearly iridescent glow. The bodice dives into a plunging neckline anchored by wide-set straps that continue into a stunning cross back design. The under-bust and ribcage have gentle boning and the waist is supported by a petersham ribbon belt as show in the 5th photo. What truly sets this piece apart is its dramatic, sculptural skirt! The voluminous outer tier cascades in a waterfall-like effect around the straight lined inner skirt. The outer layer's lining of vivid indigo blue acts as an electrifying backdrop to showcase the inner skirt. The similar undertones of these hues add an optical illusion-esque element of depth. The back hem of the gown trails behind in the back for a mild train effet. The interior is fully lined and zips closed up the back.
A bold, beautifully constructed piece that embodies the early 2000’s glamour that called back to Old Hollywood sophistication.
