Patricia Lester 80s Silk Pleated & Velvet Teal Evening Coat

Patricia Lester is a Kenyan born, English designer who creates her masterpieces (and we do not use that word lightly) in Wales. When it comes to pleats, this designer is in the realm of Fortuny (despite an adamance from Lester that states no connection) and perhaps even the likes of ancient Greco-Roman craftsman who encapsulated these lush textures in their statues. Swirling hand pleated silk smiles at all who behold- complex textures create other-worldly and worldly comparisons. Ocean waves, clouds, rivers, landscapes- it is not hard to be transported by Lester's work. This piece stands out in her collection through its use of a silk velvet blend with cut velvet tulips that accentuate the textures in this piece. Shoulders are pointed by a pleat-rope finished with beaded accents. Made in Wales.  An art piece in every way.   Excellent condition, feels unworn.
