Lifetime McQueen at your fingertips, this fluttery number is what chiffon 1930s slinky dreams are made of. From the "Deliverance" runway show, this gorgeously feminine and soft ensemble evokes running through a meadow, the smell of fresh flowers, the sound of water trickling in a stream nearby... all things fairy-core. According to Robert Fairer who wrote for many publications including Vogue,
"The collection was based on the narrative of the 1969 Sydney Pollack movie “They Shoot Horses Don’t They?” starring Jane Fonda, Michael Sarrazin and Susannah York. It was a desperate movie about hunger and youth during the 1930s Great Depression in America, in which a motley group of characters vie to win a cruel and physically punishing dance marathon with a cash prize."
McQueen in-fact urged his models to dance during the show, leading to a gorgeous display of fabric movement. This season was anything but bleak Great Depression and closer to roaring 20s/30s feminine charm. Regardless, this is an incredible piece, in excellent condition. Pure silk chiffon, blouse has gorgeous ruching at chest. Skirt is asymmetrical and has a row of buttons that attach sideways to enhance the bias cut. As this piece is cut on the bias, per the 30s nod, this piece has flexibility in sizing. Do note that the chiffon is delicate and extension past limits will compromise seams. Has original tags. Approximate US 6, listed as size IT42. A truly incredible ensemble.
