Zandra Rhodes 1970s/80s Silk Turquoise Silk Screen Dress
Atlantis calls for its long lost goddess! This oceanic dress is screen printed with golden flecks of stars, let us say ancient depictions of starfish, and gorgeous beading that accentuates the nautical, but feminine form. The inner rayon "petticoat" is the darker turquoise silhouette that pokes through the delicate silk exterior- this beautiful sculpting of the dress creates a bold and soft paradox which is best seen on the back of the dress. The half circle cut in the back is filled with tribal designs, geometric and organic. The ruching at the hip and asymmetric hem really gives the goddess vibe! Zandra Rhodes silks are notorious for their delicate nature- Poseidon must have blessed this dress with lasting power because the flaws on this piece are minimal. Good condition with minor holes on front bodice (contrasted with white accentuates these pinpoint details but on skin, barely noticeable), shoulder tear as pictured- does not seem to be expanding. Additionally, there is discoloration at the bottom of the dress. Not bad for 50 year old silk! Pearl and rhinestone beading. Inner petticoat attached with snaps and exterior silk by hook on side dress.
