Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture two-piece skirt suit from the Fall 1981 collection. This ensemble was featured on the runway at the collection's debut styled to perfection with a slight nod to 1940s film noir sophistication. The suit is composed of a smooth wool in a cool-toned shade of ash grey comparable to a ribbon-winning Russian Blue cat. The blazer is double breasted with large, rounded peaked lapels. The skirt has been altered to an above-the-knee length and is closer to a mini skirt than the runway photo. The skirt gathers slightly at the waist for an elegant pleat effect that elevates the wrap-style clos ure of the skirt. The skirt doubles at the front and hooks close at the left side hip. Both the jacket and skirt are lined in luxurious matching silver silk. Slight shoulder padding, but this was the era when shoulder-pads were still slim! A timeless silhouette that will remain a staple for decades to come. Coveted and collectible Haute Couture. Haute Couture number 49819.
