An unusual yet quintessential 1990's Gianfranco Ferré. This seemingly simple gown shows his ability to seamlessly blend rigid, architectural forms with highly tactile, organic materials. True to his background as an architect, Ferré used the clothing to frame the body. The sharp, clean line across the high neckline balances the dramatic, deep plunging open back. The woven black raffia trim is composed of 14 thin rows to create a shape that echos a silhouette of armor. The gentle textural contrast between heavy matte crepe and the sightly reflective sheen of the tightly woven black raffia is a satisfying vision of tone-on-tone dimension. The skirt has two very deep slits. Zips up the side. Fully lined.
