Christian Dior Boutique by Marc Bohan Runway F/W 1985 Red Silk Taffeta Ruffle Dress

Utterly fabulous red silk taffeta voluminous ruffle dress from Marc Bohan's Fall 1985 Collection for Christian Dior. At the time, WWD was quoted describing the collection as "(...) young at heart, naughty and smart-chic".  This exceptional dress certainly articulates that ethos, and embodies Marc Bohan's vision for Dior in the eighties era of excess. We've included photos of the runway iteration of this dress in black styled with a pin tucked into the sculptural one-shoulder ruffles.

We can't overstate the amount of glamour that radiates from this high-drama piece. The silk taffeta is lightweight and feels at ease when on despite the voluminous presence. Elaborately constructed  with ruffles cascading in tiers around the skirt of the dress. The ruffle petals are cleverly reinforced with light wiring encased in the hems. Through the interior of the bodice and waist there is interior boning and a petersham waist belt for support. The bodice is designed to hug the figure with gathers that wrap around the bust with ruching. Finished with a side zipper and hook-and eye closure.

Good condition with gentle signs of wear commensurate with age. Slightly worn weave in the taffeta around the armpits. 

Fits like a modern US 6 or 8. About a Medium.
