Christian Dior-New York 1966 black silk twill skirt suit. Fabulously tailored, luxurious to the touch black silk twill skirt suit with classic early to mid-'60s boxy silhouette. In 1966, young women famously gathered outside of London's House of Dior protesting for Dior to support the mini skirt in response to Marc Bohan's chic yet conservative designs, such as this skirt suit. Features a high squared neckline with a sailor style cape at the back and a two button and two hook closure. Straight mid-length skirt with slit at the center back and a zip closure down the back. Fully lined in Christian Dior logo black silk lining. Christian Dior New York tag and United States union label tag. This historically significant piece represents a pivotal moment in fashion when haute couture confronted the youthquake revolution, making it a museum-worthy example of 1960s fashion history.
