Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Ecru and Black Linen Cowl Neck Tunic

$3,500.00

A stand-out collectible piece from the unconventional Moroccan born designer Jean-Charles de Castalbajac. Castelbajac was a part of a small group in the 1970s along with Issey Miyake who returned to the straight cut and floating shapes of the traditional Japanese dress. You may not be familiar with his name, but some of his iconic pieces may ring familiar. Castelbajac, also known as JCDC, is known for pieces such as a coat of teddy bears worn by pop star Madonna as well as by supermodel Helena Christensen in the film Prêt-à-Porter.

This piece in particular comes with an interesting provenance as it was seen pictured in  the 1993 book "JC DeCastelbajac Album", pictured in the final photo.

This tunic is constructed with a rustic, organic-feeling cotton linen. Spiderweb black criss cross embroidery decorates the silhouette and gives it a Japanese feel. The cowl neck can also be worn as a hooded head covering. Two side slits at the hip open the silhouette even further. One size fits most. Excellent condition with slight discoloration in the cowl neck.
