A fabulously bold offering from the Spring 1984 collection of James Galanos. We have a handful of pieces from this beautiful collection, and it's easy to understand the appeal. The ensemble showcases the designer's calling cards of divine fabrics, maximalist prints, and powerful silhouettes. The entire three piece ensemble is crafted from an ultra fine silk chiffon jacquard in a vibrant shade of purple plum with a funky geometric animal print and a raised spotted jacquard. The ensemble consists of a longline jacket, knee-length skirt, and a scarf. The scarf was styled to drape elegantly around the neck on the runway, but the options are numerous. We even added photos of a headscarf styling to entice you!
The silk chiffon jacket is arranged in meticulous vertical hand-pleated pleats down the front, back, and arms. The beadwork mirrors the geometric cobblestone motif of the chiffon at the collar, cuffs, hem, and down the center obscuring the zipper closure. The beadwork consists of iridescent violet and semi-transparent white colored acrylic diamond-shaped beads. Self-fabric lining. Light shoulder pads.
The knee-length skirt sits at the high waist with top-stitched pleats that release where the longline of the jacket hits. The skirt is unlined with a side sip and hook closure.
Good condition with imperfections to note throughout the piece. There is light fading at the arms and shoulders of the jacket as evident in the magenta tinge to those areas in the photos. There is yellowing throughout the self-fabric lining which is not noticeable from the exterior. The top-stitched pleats on the skirt show slight signs of fray. The beadwork is in tact.
Good vintage condition.
