1940s Champagne Satin Evening Gown/Dressing Gown
This is the evening gown that the late 30s/early 40's directors would assemble an entire crew to spotlight...lights, subtle smoke haze, bedroom set design and a gorgeous pincurl hairstyle. If a dress could embody seductive doe eyes, this one would! Originally made as an absolutely luxurious example of a 40s glamorous dressing gown, its silky satin shines like a glimmering pearl. Innocence and seduction all in one gown. Fabulous shoulder puff accent completes the 40s look. Add the trapunto floral surface design throughout and a long train and you have the perfect lingerie gown. From red carpets to weddings this stunning gown can take you anywhere you please. Zipper front from chest to knee and attached front tie. This dress was probably handmade given the custom back train seam lines, the craftsmanship on the raised florals and the way it is constructed. This gown shows signs of aging... who wouldn't for being nearly 90 years old? No structural problems but scattered rust discoloration, stretching of satin lines (see arms), occasional water drop imprint stains. Still in very good condition after all these years. Approximate modern US 2/4, possibly a snug size 6. Unlabeled. Reference photos attached.
