This 1987 Arnold Scaasi ballgown is truly an exquisite example of 1980s Hollywood glamour. Scaasi's designs were often seen on the red carpet and it's easy to understand why! His grand designs photograph brilliantly, and this gown is a fabulous illustration of the designer's genius. An identical gown to ours was featured in The Alexandre Vassiliev Foundation's 2019 exhibit at the Modes Muzejs (Fashion Museum) in Riga, Latvia entitled "The Brilliant 1980's." Marvelously crafted from silk taffeta in bold shades of blue and green. Expertly cut to create a playful pattern of stripes and checks, this mesmerizing dress is supremely flattering and oh so fun! With an accordion-pleated strapless neckline, smocked bodice, and voluminous trumpet skirt, the gown combines elements of timeless elegance with subdued camp. The dress is lined with several layers of tulle and organdy for a fuller skirt and has an invisible zipper along the center back. The gown is complete with a matching stole for a fully coordinated look! Excellent vintage condition. Fits like US 0.
