An exquisite piece with a fascinating history from the personal archive of the designer, Anthony Ferrara. The fine ring mesh is 24kt gold plated brass made by premier manufacture of mesh, Whiting & Davis. This ingenious mesh is now only sold to Tiffany & Co. The tunic consist of two panels with over 400 rings cut one at a time from each panel.
The inspiration for this design came to Ferrara on a visit to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The BMFA’s Egyptian Collection featured the mummified remains of Nesmutaatneru dating 760–660 B.C. The woman is cloaked in a beaded antelope skin with an intricate slitting process that the designer implemented into the construction of this piece from the 1980’s.
