Trend: It’s Black, It’s White

Thursday, December 27th, 2012

There was no shortage of stark black and white looks on the Spring 2013 runways. Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Jil Sander, Narciso Rodriguez, and CHANEL (pictured above) were just a few of the collections that reinvented the classic contrast. Truly a timeless trend, we’ve seen it appear decade after decade, each time as timeless and fresh as ever. Pictured above (clockwise from upper left) are our Versace Printed Op Art Star Dress, Valentino Beaded Polka Dot Satin Cocktail Dress, Bob Mackie Unicorn Jacket, and CHANEL Party Dress with Ruffles. Stop by TWWW and shop the trend!

Trend: Feminine Fringe

Friday, December 7th, 2012

Versace, Rodarte, Bottega Veneta, Nina Ricci, and Marchesa were just a few of the collections that featured fringe on the Spring 2013 runways.  It was shown trimming hemlines, finishing shawls, and  highlighting thigh-grazing minis. There’s something about a fringed cocktail dress that makes you just wanna sashay all day! If you have yet to experience this, you must stop by TWWW and play dress up! Pictured above are our 1960′s Metallic Beaded Fringe Gown and 1980′s Oleg Cassini Beaded Alphabet Cocktail Dress.

VERSUS Takes New Direction

Saturday, December 1st, 2012

While rumors of Christopher Kane taking over Balenciaga have proven to be untrue, we did finally get some reputable factoids about the designer. Versace has announced that Kane will be parting ways with Versus as the line takes a new direction.

Versus will no longer show at Milan Fashion weeks. Instead Donatella will collaborate with “a number of yet-to-be-named young designers, stylists, and creative talents” and produce capsule collections available for immediate online purchase, says WWD. Versus plans to rely heavily on social media and a digital marketing strategy for these collections. Who would you like to see collaborate with Donatella?

M.I.A. Named Next Face of Versace

Saturday, November 24th, 2012

We first got a glimpse of this duo in last July’s issue of  W which featured designers with their musical muses. If that wasn’t enough of a sign that a partnership were on the way, M.I.A’s look at last year’s Met ball (head to toe Versace baroque prints) was a pretty good clue, too! At an artist’s talk at MoMA, the controversial Sri Lanka-born rapper announced that she would be the next face of Versace. She didn’t elaborate much on what to expect from the collaboration. What would you like to see? Or who do you think would have been a better fit?
