Through October 20, 2012, at the Suzanne Geiss Company in New York, is Antonio’s World, a survey of the world of Antonio Lopez (1943-1987). Included is never before seen drawings, photographs and ephemera, along with seminal work from Vogue, The New York Times, Women’s Wear Daily and Interview from the 1970s and 1980s. Inspired by his muses (like L.A. fashion publicist Nancy Lucas), contemporary culture and a variety of artistic movements, Lopez created an incredible body of work in pencil, ink, charcoal, watercolor and film. His Polaroids and Instamatics of friends such as Paloma Picasso and Yves Saint Laurent captured an exuberant time in fashion and nightlife.
